CWA 1040 Blood Drive at ADTC!

On February 15, 2024, CWA Local 1040 members at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenel hosted a blood drive.  CWA Local 1040 President Michele Long-Vickers encourages our branches and members to get involved with projects that can have a positive impact in our communities. Our Community Services Committee helps to coordinate these efforts and the success of events like there are a direct result of the hard work and support that they provide.

CWA Local 1040's Branch President at the facility, Sharon Stewart, worked with the committee and her members to plan and coordinate this event. They provided healthy snacks, gift bags, raffles, and plenty of CWA hospitality to all who attended. Initially, they only had 5 people registered to donate, but Ms. Stewart and her members were not discouraged. Instead of panicking, they put their organizing skills to work and were able to triple their registration! As a result, they had 15 people donate blood which equates to a total of 45 lives that could be saved from the donations!

On behalf of everyone at CWA Local 1040, we would like to thank Ms. Stewart for her leadership in making this incredible event happen. Our members continue to set the bar high for what union members can do in their communities. We can't wait to see how many lives are saved at the next blood drive!
